What Can You Do With A No-Contract Cell Phone Plan?

Posted on

Cell phones can help you stay in contact with the people who matter most. You can play games, do your banking, and read the daily news, all from your cell phone. In order to do so, however, you'll need a reliable cell phone plan. These are four things you can do when you choose a no-contract cell phone plan.

1. Keep your current phone service.

Some people feel loyal to their current phone service provider. Others simply don't want the hassle of switching to a new cell phone carrier. Fortunately, you may be able to keep your current phone service while switching to a no-contract cell phone plan. Many popular cell phone carriers offer no-contract options to customers. Choosing this option will give you all the benefits of no-contract phone service, such as prepaid bills and no overage charges. You can keep your same phone number and continue to rely on your current phone provider's cell coverage.

2. Choose the most affordable option.

No-contract cell phone plans give customers the option to shop around in order to find the best deal. Without a contract, you can leave your current plan at any time. You can upgrade or downgrade to a plan that offers more talk minutes, text messages, or data. You can even choose to switch to a new company if you find a better deal elsewhere. No-contracts cell phone plans are ideal for budget-conscious people who want to make the most of their money.

3. Take advantage of new and ongoing deals.

Many no-contract cell phone providers offer new and ongoing deals to customers. When you switch to a new cell phone carrier, you may be able to take advantage of discounted rates for the first several months. After your new customer deal expires, there may be additional ways to save money. For example, some cell providers offer discounts to customers who enroll in automatic bill payment. Automatic bill payment is not a contract, and you can still cancel your service at any time. However, it can give you one less bill to think about, in addition to discounted phone service.

4. Upgrade your phone whenever you like.

Finally, a no-contract cell phone plan will allow you to upgrade your phone at any time. Traditional phone plans typically only allow customers to upgrade their phones every few years since phones are leased or given in exchange for renewed contracts. No-contract phone plans do not link cell phones with service charges. This means that you can bring your own phone to your new phone plan and change it whenever you like.
